HMI  HCR & HSI Series - Rectangular Universal Air Control Damper

Series HCR, HCR Economizer & HSI are custom made universal motorized 24Vac Air Control Dampers (also available as 120Vac) , in a square or rectangular shape to the size and dimensions required.
NOTE: MOTOR IS MOUNTED ON THE SHORTEST SIDE UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED.

The HCR series fastens to a square or rectangular air duct in-line to control the flow of air, partially or completely, depending on its mechanical setting. This damper may be ordered with two different one motor types (depending on the size) or one of a variety of Belimo actuators.

The HSI series "Slip-in Type" is similar to the HCR but instead of connecting to two open ends of a rectangular air duct it is designed to be an easier install for existing rectangular ducts.
To install only part of one side of the existing duct needs to be cut away allowing the HSI to "Slip-in" the side making for a fast and easy installation solution for your rectangular damper needs.

Features of both the HCR and HSI Include:
  • Easy to install in-line as part of standard rectangular or square air duct.
  • Durable, patented HMI  HOYME 'spring motor drive' with nylon bearings.
  • 26 ga. galv. steel is standard however other sizes and weight of steel can be used upon request.
  • These dampers can be used for the new ventilation code which requires a designated exhaust fan, a centrally located switch marked 'VENTILATION' and a fresh air intake damper, all interconnected to the furnace circulation fan.

Series HCR and HSI dampers are spring returned with a Power Open or Power Closed configuration (some exceptions for dampers using specific Belimo Actuators).

The HCR Economizer Damper series fastens to a square or rectangular air duct in-line to control the flow of fresh air with an air conditioner. The Damper closes when the outside tempurature is higher than 55 degrees F. and opens when lower than 55 degrees F.

OPERATION OF THE AIR CONDITIONER ECONOMIZER

Thermostat Cooling Cycle – power is supplied to AC ‘Y’ from thermostat ‘Y’.

When outside temperature is higher than 55 degrees F:

a) Thermo switch is open
b) Fresh Air Damper is closed
c) End Switch is closed
d) Air Conditioner is running.

When outside temperature is lower than 55 degrees F:

a) Thermo switch is closed
b) Fresh Air Damper is open
c) End Switch is open
d) Air Conditioner is idle.

Thermostat Heating Cycle – Power is not supplied to terminals ‘Y’

a) Fresh Air Damper is closed
b) Air Conditioner remains idle.
