General Information Sheet on the HMI Hoyme Motorized All Weather Hood


The Motorized Hood replaces the standard outside All Weather Hood to Control
Intake / Exhaust Air of a Residential or a small Commercial building for:

  • Improved building energy efficiency
  • Enhanced building comfort
  • Ensured occupant safety
  • Reduced stress to HVAC equipment

Features Include:

  • Simple installation, installs as part of horizontal Duct
  • Galvanized Steel construction
  • Adjustable extension sleeve increases ‘L’ dimension from minimum of 7 1/2 inches to a maximum of 14 inches
  • Patented HMI Hoyme ‘Spring Motor Drive’ c/w Nylon Bearings
  • Low voltage Synchron Motor, 24 VAC-5 watt, stall protected
  • Suitable for controlling low temperature air
  • Flashing included for easy installation with siding or stucco

Options Include:

  • End switch to prove Damper position
  • 1/4″ screen for intake air and screen removed for exhausting air

A constantly open Fresh Air Duct (passive air) reduces energy efficiency.
Positive control of this air will assure building comfort, safety, and energy efficiency.

The Motorized All Weather Hood has the appearance of a Standard Sheet Metal Air Intake / Exhaust Hood except that this hood has a Motorized Damper built in. This unique and patented design provides a tight air seal right at the building wall.

MOH Dampers are either Power Open or Power Closed for exhausting air and Power Open for controlling inlet air. An optional end switch as part of the Damper can be ordered to prove the damper position when connecting to a safety control system or a secondary device.

This Damper is well suited for controlling the make-up air for Fireplaces, Clothes Dryers or Central Ventilation Systems.

NOTE: However, NOT suitable for Dryer Ventilation. In that instance use the Hoyme BDH – Back Draft Hood. (either spring or gravity close)

All HMI Hoyme Dampers have a patented spring-drive assembly.
